Zenia’s Journey: A Beacon of Hope Through Education
In a quaint rural area of Chowgacha, Jashore, lives a remarkable young woman named Zenia Fareha. Zenia’s story is one of resilience, determination, and the unyielding pursuit of education despite overwhelming challenges. In 2020, Zenia faced a life-altering tragedy when her father succumbed to a severe kidney disease. This tragic loss not only left an emotional void but also plunged her family into financial hardship.

A Struggle for Survival
Zenia, her mother, and her younger sister have been navigating through these turbulent times with limited resources. Her family sold their tiny house and exhausted their savings in a desperate attempt to save her father’s life. Now, they live in rented accommodation, struggling to make ends meet with a mere 40,000 BDT annual income from her father’s remaining bank savings.

Her mother, a jobless housewife, and Zenia have been trying to support their family as best as they can. Zenia previously earned a small amount through tutoring, but the COVID-19 pandemic halted this source of income, adding to their financial woes. Despite these adversities, Zenia’s academic excellence shines brightly. She achieved an A+ in her SSC exams in the science group and is now a first-year HSC student at ABC College, dreaming of studying Computer Engineering at BUET.

The Need for Support
Understanding the dire circumstances, Zenia applied for a one-to-one monthly scholarship under a supportive project. Her heartfelt application highlighted her unwavering commitment to education and her family’s desperate need for financial aid:

“Dear Sir,

With due respect, I, Zenia Fareha, a college student from a rural area, Chowgacha, Jashore, am applying for the one-to-one monthly scholarship under your project. Currently, I am studying first year at my HSC and I got A+ in my SSC in the science group. Unfortunately, my Father died in 2020 due to a serious Kidney disease. We tried to save my Papa’s life by investing all savings and assets, but we couldn’t save him. We even had to sell our tiny house for his treatment. Currently, we are three members in our family: my Mom, me, and my younger sister, who is also studying in class X, Science group. My Mom is a jobless housewife. We have no other persons to support us financially. My Father has a little amount of savings left in a bank, from which we get about 40,000 BDT per year, which is our only source of income. At this situation, we are facing difficulties to continue our educational expenses. I cannot even focus on my education, and my Mom is struggling to manage money for our education. My Mom and I have a strong desire to continue my education by any cost. Even I dream to study at BUET in Computer Engineering. But, this is very uncertain as we have no source of income. As a girl, I have no way to support my family. Previously, I earned some money by tutoring, but due to COVID-19, it is stopped now.

Therefore, I badly need the scholarship from your foundation. I promise that I will utilize this scholarship money only for our educational expenses. I am sure that you would be kind enough to sanction a monthly basis good scholarship for me. I would love to give more information about my application.

Thank you for supporting my application. I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely, Zenia Fareha College Student (HSC, First year) ABC College Chowgacha, Jashore, Bangladesh”

This scholarship has enabled Zenia to focus on her studies without the constant worry of how to afford basic educational expenses.

The breakdown of her family’s financial needs underscores the importance of this support:

Her younger sister also has minimal income from a junior scholarship, which provides 4,000 BDT/year. She does not attend any tuition center, and her bus cost is 20 BDT/day.

A Bright Future
