
Humanitarian assistance to control Covid-19 pendamic for farmers in Sunamganj, Bangladesh in collaboration with Poribesh O Haor Unnoyon Sangsta, Bangladesh.
This is the harvesting time in Haor area. At the same time the pendamic of Covid-19 is spreading all over the world. Covid-19 patient is already detected in Sunamganj. So to reduce the risk of spreading the disease in Sunamganj and to help to the daily labours without income we are taking short term, midterm and long term measures in collaboration with Poribesh O Haor Unnoyon Sangsta (PHUS), Bangladesh. We are thus launching support program to Combat Covid 19 for helping farmers in the marginalized communities.
– As short term measures to reduce the risk of spreading Covid-19 to area people specially to the labours engaged in harvesting paddy we want to provide them with face masks, any bacterial soap and water drum in wash points.
– As a midterm support we want to provide the needy families specially in the high lands of border area with food packs. The pack may include rice, potato, cooking oil, pulse necessary for a week.
Our targeted working area is Tahirpur and Jamalganj Upazilas in Sunamganj district. Almost 75 thousands households are there. More than 50% are under poverty line.
Number of households in border area of the two Upazilas will be 15,000. PHUS have already formed a Corona Volunteers group consisting more than 150 youths in the two mentioned Upazilas.
The programs, have already taken are:
1. Miking to aware the labours and area people.
2. Providing soups, water pots, extra clothes (gamcha) and face mask for labors to the 60 spots of big haors.
3. Formed Medical teams ,and giving them some free medicinal support. Telemedicine service have already started.

The estimated costs to support additional 10,000 people immediately as a short term measures we need BDT 300,000.
As midterm support to provide 50 kg rice, 10kg potatoes, 3 litres oil and 2kg of pulse we need BDT 2750 for each family for a month.
For 1000 family 1000×2750= 27,50,000 each month. We want to provide support for 3 months. So total expenditure will be 27,50,000×3 = 82,50,000 BDT.
For medicine support, 1000 family 1000×200= 200,000 for one month. We want to provide support for 1 month. So total expenditure will be 200,000 BDT.
Several reputable doctors have given their mobile numbers to emergency workers for haor paddy workers to prevent coronary infection. We also want to give some medicines to these patients for free.
